All employment verification requests for The Ohio State University are handled by The Work Number. The Work Number is an automated service that provides instant verification 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Exceptions include verifications requiring letterhead (i.e. visa and residency requests and longevity credit transfers) and verifications for employees who left the university prior to 1998. As a third party, if you cannot find an employee using The Work Number please contact Office of Human Resources Customer Service Center.

Need proof of employment?
Download and print the Employment Verification Information Sheet, and enter your Social Security Number in the appropriate boxes. Then give it to the person requesting proof of employment.
Need proof of employment and income?
In order to obtain proof of employment and income, you will need to obtain a Salary Key that the verifier will use to access your salary information.
- Visit verify.theworknumber.com or call 1-800-367-2884 and follow the prompts to "Create a Salary Key".
- You will be asked for the Ohio State University Employer Code (10380), your Social Security Number, and your PIN (visit ePayroll Pay Stub for more information).
- Download and print the Employment Verification Information Sheet, and enter your Social Security Number and Salary Key in the appropriate boxes. Then give it to the person requesting proof of employment.
