GlobalCare Referral Service

GlobalCare provides you with 24-hour emergency referral to medical care when you travel outside of Ohio and internationally. GlobalCare is a free service available to university medical plan enrollees or employees travelling on university business.

Are my dependents, spouse, or partner eligible for this benefit?

Faculty, staff, and their eligible dependents who are enrolled in a university-provided medical plan are eligible.

Faculty and staff travelling on university-sponsored business and not enrolled in a university medical plan are eligible. You may purchase services for eligible dependents who are traveling with you.

 

How/when can I sign up?

If eligible, you are automatically enrolled in this benefit when you enroll in a medical plan. Faculty and staff travelling on university-sponsored business and not enrolled in a university medical plan must complete the GlobalCare Employee Enrollment Form for University-Sponsored Business Travel or the GlobalCare Dependent Enrollment Form for University-Sponsored Business Travel.
 

Will this affect my taxes?

No.
 

When can I change my benefit elections?

There are no benefit election periods. This is a referral service.

 

Will I receive a GlobalCare card?

Yes, you will be issued one GlobalCare card per household. The card is not a membership card per se, it only provides contact information you can use when you are outside Ohio.

 

Have there been any recent changes to this benefit?

No.

Who do I contact regarding claims?

 

What would cause this benefit coverage to end?

This benefit would end when:
  • your medical coverage terminates
  • your university employment ends
  • when you do not make payment for your domestic partner

What happens to this benefit when I leave OSU?

Benefit coverage ends when employment with the university ends.
