Stay connected to The Ohio State University upon retirement.
Who are OSURA members?
- Membership in The Ohio State University Retirees Association (OSURA) is open to all retired Ohio State University faculty and staff. All retirees are given a complimentary membership as they begin their retirement.
- Spouses and partners are automatically members of OSURA and may vote and hold office.
- Membership is also open to retirees of entities recognized by the Executive Board as being closely related to the University (such as the Alumni Association).
- Associate membership may be offered to retirees of other colleges and universities and their spouses/partners and to retired persons who have contributed significant service to The Ohio State University.
- Over 2,800 OSU retirees located throughout the country have joined OSURA.
Why Belong to OSURA?
OSURA constantly monitors retirement issues.
- OSURA Benefit Committee members are actively involved in monitoring retirement activities in STRS-Ohio, OPERS, and state and federal legislation; members are updated on the latest retirement issues.
- OSURA retirees have a seat on the University Faculty Compensation and Benefits Committee and the Staff Compensation and Benefits Committee.
- OSURA has representatives on the Ohio Council of Higher Education Retirees (a coalition of retiree associations of higher education institutions in the state of Ohio), the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, and Public Employees Retirees, Incorporated, to name a few.
OSURA offers the opportunity to take part in many educational, cultural, social, informational, and travel programs, such as:
- An annual fall conference, Coping with Change, that offers speakers on relevant topics about retirement living and senior health concerns.
- A spring income tax seminar about the latest tax rules and regulations.
- Updates from top OSU administrators at the annual meeting each summer.
- Short one-day local travel excursions as well as longer national and international travel opportunities.
- Group attendance at musical concerts, theatrical events, and other cultural offerings.
- Social opportunities, such as monthly breakfast at OSU Faculty Club, summer picnic, fall potluck, and a monthly luncheon with a stimulating speaker.
- Small groups formed around special interests such as photography, book reviews, WOSU , and other volunteer work.

- Members receive a monthly newsletter that outlines all OSURA activities as well as provides news of general interest about the University and the greater community.
- The OSURA Web site offers current information about the association and its activities.
- Updated information is continually provided about the critical retirement issues that affect OSU retirees pensions.

How to Join (or Renew Your Membership)
After your complimentary membership expires, OSURA annual dues are $15 which includes both the retiree and spouse/partner. Life membership is encouraged at $170.
