Voluntary Group Term Life Insurance Program (VGTLI) The Voluntary Group Term Life Insurance Program (VGTLI) is designed to provide life insurance benefits in addition to the university-provided Group Term Life Insurance benefit described in your Benefit Overview booklet. The VGTL program offers you the flexibility to change your level of coverage as your needs change, and provides protection for your spouse and children at group rates. If you are unsure whether or not you are eligible for this benefit, go to Benefit Eligibility.
Are my dependents, spouse, or partner eligible for this benefit? You can choose Voluntary Group Term Life Insurance for yourself, your spouse, and your dependents. How/when can I sign up? Eligible employees may enroll upon transfer to/employment in an eligible appointment, or during special enrollment periods (not annually) by completing the VGTLI Application form. You may enroll at any other time with Evidence of Insurability.
Will this affect my taxes? No - premiums for life insurance are taken from your paycheck after taxes. When can I change my benefit elections?
You may enroll within 31 days of a qualifying status change transfer to/employment in an eligible appointment by completing the VGTLI Application form. You may enroll at any other time with Evidence of Insurability. Who do I contact about claims?
